our journey

One Sunday morning in October 2021, I had the opportunity to participate in a service activity with my Jain Temple youth group, where we provided food to those in need in Bridgeport, CT. The experience was so rewarding that my family and I decided to continue this effort, serving fresh, homemade food at the same location every Sunday morning. Through our ongoing interactions with the community, we recognized additional needs beyond food, such as clothing and education.

As our efforts grew, we inspired more families to join us, and their support has been invaluable in sustaining this initiative. Nearly three years have passed since we began, and our commitment remains strong. This experience has given me a profound appreciation for what I have, and I believe that everyone should engage in community service at some point to gain a similar perspective on the privileges they enjoy.

INITIATIVES:

Food: Since the beginning of our service efforts, we have been committed to cooking and serving healthy, homemade food to those in need every Sunday morning. Many people facing financial struggles often resort to fast food or other inexpensive, unhealthy options, which can lead to serious health issues and further financial hardship. By offering nutritious meals, we aim to promote a healthier lifestyle for the individuals we serve.

Donation Drives: We regularly organize donation drives to collect essential items such as clothing, books, school supplies, and more for local schools, shelters, and charity organizations.

Getting Others Involved: Since the beginning of our efforts, we have inspired many people to get involved in our cause. In addition, I plan to give presentations and speeches across a variety of platforms and events, inspiring people to pledge community service.
